When Alice's ex-boyfriend dies in a car accident, she's unexpectedly confronted with her six-year-old son, whom she had abandoned at birth. His presence not only threatens her routine existence as a luxury escort but also exposes strongly suppressed emotions. Doubt strikes again. Will she be able to be a mother this time?
Past Imperfect tells the touching but heart-warming story of Alice and Robin. Divided between the fear of intimacy and the desire for security, Alice tries to take on her role as a parent. But what does the tie of blood mean in the absence of a shared past? Can love triumph over fear? A deeply human portrait of two lost souls, of the destabilising but also tender battle to find each other and oneself.
Lorsque son ex décède brusquement dans un accident de voiture, Alice se retrouve face à son fils de six ans qu’elle a abandonné à la maternité. Sa présence menace sa petite routine d’escort de luxe et fait ressurgir des émotions qu’elle avait réprimées. Le doute s’installe. Parviendra-t-elle cette fois et après toutes ces années à devenir une mère pour cet enfant ?
Le passé devant nous est l’histoire poignante d’Alice et Robin. Tiraillée entre son besoin d’intimité et de stabilité, Alice essaie de remplir son rôle de mère. Mais que signifient les liens du sang sans un passé commun ? Est-ce que l’amour est plus fort que la peur ? Ce film est un portrait plein d’humanité de deux âmes en peine et le combat déchirant qu’elles mènent pour se retrouver.
Wanneer haar ex-vriend omkomt in een auto-ongeval, wordt Alice onverwacht geconfronteerd met haar zesjarig zoontje dat ze bij de geboorte achterliet. Zijn aanwezigheid bedreigt niet alleen haar routineuze bestaan als luxe-escorte maar legt ook sterk onderdrukte emoties bloot. Twijfel slaat opnieuw toe. Slaagt ze er na de vele verloren jaren deze keer wel in om een moeder voor hem te zijn?

Le passé devant nous vertelt het ontroerende maar hartverwarmende verhaal van Alice en Robin. Verdeeld tussen de angst voor intimiteit en het verlangen naar geborgenheid probeert Alice haar rol als ouder op te nemen. Maar wat betekent een bloedband zonder gedeeld verleden? Kan liefde angst overwinnen? Een diepmenselijk portret over twee verloren zielen, over het ontwrichtende maar ook tedere gevecht elkaar en zichzelf terug te vinden.
