A short film about a town in which words are something physical: you drink them like wine or orange juice. Before you can speak you have to drink a bottle of words from small-talk cafes.

synopsis

In a time before the past and after the future there is a town where words are something physical. In this town you can drink words like you drink wine or orange juice. Before you can speak you have to drink a bottle of words. You can buy these words in small talk cafes. Ampersand works in one of these small talk cafe's. The one his father Per Mil ownes. He helps with serving the clients and filling the racks. One day Cedille comes in. Ampersand can't believe his eyes, she looks so special and wonderful! Sadly he doesn't have the words to tell her this because his father forbids him to drink words because he believes words only cause harm en misunderstandings. The handsome tailer Apostrof drinks a lot of 'Lies' and 'Bragging' and that seems to work with the rich ladies. Maybe he should try to do the same or is his father right about the words?
In de tijd voor het verleden en na de toekomst is er een stad waar woorden iets tastbaar zijn. Dat komt omdat die stad zeker 50 km van het tijdsbesef en ver voorbij het logisch denken ligt. In deze stad kan je woorden drinken net zoals wijn en sinaasappelsap. Voor dat je kan spreken moet je eerst je woordflesje opdrinken. De woorden kan je kopen in praatcafés. Ampersand werkt in zo'n praatcafé. Namelijk dat van Promille, zijn vader. Hij helpt hem met het wegbrengen van bestellingen en het aanvullen van de schapjes met woordflesjes. Op een dag ontmoet hij de beeldschone Cedille. Ampersand is helemaal overdonderd door haar. Maar helaas heeft hij geen woorden om haar het hof te maken want zijn vader verbied hem om woordflesjes te drinken. Dit omdat hij gelooft dat woorden enkel pijn en misverstanden veroorzaken. De knappe kleermaker Procent drinkt veel Opschepperij en Leugens en dat lijkt wel te werken bij de dames. Misschien moet hij dat ook eens proberen? Of zou zijn vader het toch gelijk hebben?
