synopsis

At the end of the world, day in, day out, three men take on the Southern Ocean and its legends. They leave their families and brave the cold and the storms to join the fishermen in the isolated Cape Horn islands. Some launch themselves into these epic channels through greed, others for love of the sea, or through family need, but all agree on the importance of carrying on this endangered traditional way of life and the brotherhood it creates.
Au bout du monde, trois hommes affrontent la mer australe et ses dangers. Ils quittent leur famille, bravent le froid et les tempêtes pour aller à la rencontre de pêcheurs isolés dans les îles tristement célèbres de l’extrême sud du Chili. Tous s’accordent sur l’importance de perpétuer ce métier de tradition et de partage fraternel menacé d’extinction.
In een verre uithoek van de wereld trotseren drie mannen de Zuidelijke IJszee en haar legenden. Ze laten hun familie achter, doorstaan kou en stormen om geïsoleerde vissers op de meedogenloze eilanden in het uiterste zuiden van Chili te bevoorraden en hun vangst op te halen. Alle drie zijn ze ervan overtuigd dat hun beroep, met zijn tradities en broederlijke solidariteit, van wezenlijk belang is, al is het met uitsterven bedreigd.
