Max and Tikkelotje own an unsuccessful theatre company. When Tikkelotje notices Ramon - the faithful companion to Saint Nicholas - playing the guitar and singing she decides to kidnap both him and Slechtweervandaag, Saint Nicholas's trusty steed. Saint Nicholas is devastated, but eventually he pulls himself together and goes around the houses to collect the children's wish lists. An adventure involving assorted people then ensues as he tried to beat the clock to rescue the hapless pair.
Terwijl Sinterklaas zoals altijd met de stoomboot uit Spanje naar Antwerpen vaart, reist zijn trouwe knecht Ramon Iglesias met zijn paard over land om het dier van zeeziekte te sparen. Maar ze worden onderweg gevangen genomen door Tikkelotje, die het muzikale talent van Ramon in een nieuwe act wil gebruiken om zo haar slecht draaiende theatertje nieuw leven in te blazen. Professor Van den Uytleg en Conchita zetten hun postduiven in en ook Zwarte Piet schiet in actie om Ramon en het paard terug te vinden. De zoektocht loopt echter niet van een leien dakje en één voor één worden ze door de vastberaden Tikkelotje in de val gelokt en opgesloten. Er zit voor Sinterklaas niks anders op dan alleen op pad te gaan. Zal hij erin slagen om zijn vrienden terug te vinden en te bevrijden?
