After director Michiel Robberecht casts the young Guylain as the lead of his short film in the Congolese rainforest, he returns two years later to fulfil a promise they once made together.

synopsis

The young Guylain Itambi Ibambe lives in a small village in the Congolese rainforest. One day Michiel Robberecht arrives in the village to make his first short film and chooses Guylain as his main actor. It is as if Guylain is destined to play the role of Peer, a young guy losing himself in his own imaginary world. Two years later Michiel returns to show the film and fulfil a promise they once made: to travel down the Congo river together to Kinshasa where Guylain will try to start his new career as a radio host and actor. On this challenging journey to a new future they go on a downstream odyssey through a cinematographic jungle.
De jonge Guylain Itambi Ibambe leeft in een klein dorpje in het Congolese regenwoud. Op een dag belandt Michiel Robberecht in het dorp om er zijn eerste kortfilm te maken en hij kiest Guylain als hoofdrolspeler. Het lijkt alsof Guylain voorbestemd is om de rol van Peer te spelen, een jongeman die zichzelf verliest in een denkbeeldige wereld. Twee jaar later keert Michiel terug om de film te vertonen en een belofte na te komen: om samen langs de Congorivier tot in Kinshasa te reizen, waar Guylain zal proberen een carrière als radiopresentator en acteur op te bouwen. Op deze uitdagende reis naar een nieuwe toekomst gaan de twee stroomafwaarts op een odyssee door een cinematografische jungle.
