Bo, a stand-up comedian suffering from a coping mechanism called ‘the fawn response’, struggles to find her voice and show her true self, during her final moments backstage. On stage, we discover how she transforms her pain into art.

synopsis

Bo Backstage is a character-driven film that stays close to Bo, a female stand-up comedian who on the surface seems to be smiling, but in reality wears a mask. ‘Fawning’ is little-known as a way of dealing with conflict, compared to fight, flight and freeze. It’s an almost invisible people-pleasing mechanism that can be very destructive for those who experience it and have learned to silence themselves.
