A three-part documentary series on the hijacking of the Belgian ship the Pompei in the spring of 2009.

In 2009, the Indian Ocean is the stage for a wave of daring hijackings. Somalian pirates in skiffs attack dozens of ships and take the crews hostage in exchange for large sums of money. This is also the fate of the Belgian ship the Pompei. Back in Brussels, a dedicated team does everything it can to free the 10-man crew. Meanwhile, the Belgian police identifies the culprits and decides to go after them. They zoom in on the leader of the biggest pirate cartel and put together a risky undercover operation to lure him out of his hideout and into a Belgian courtroom. In this three-part documentary series, the people involved on both sides look back on this remarkable story.
In 2009 wordt de Indische Oceaan geteisterd door een golf van kapingen. Somalische piraten vallen tientallen schepen aan en houden de bemanning gegijzeld in ruil voor grote sommen losgeld. Dat overkomt ook het Belgische schip de Pompei. In Brussel stelt een toegewijd team alles in het werk om de crew vrij te krijgen. Intussen identificeert de Belgische politie de schuldigen en beslist achter hen aan te gaan. Zo komt de leider van het grootste piratenkartel in hun vizier. Ze zetten een gewaagde undercoveroperatie op touw om hem vanuit zijn veilige schuilplaats naar een Belgische rechtszaal te lokken.
