After spending her early years in the care system, Chelsea takes stock by talking to the people who have helped her through.

Chelsea was placed in a youth institution at a young age. In the documentary Chelsea's Blues, she visits people and places that are important to her: her juvenile judge, the care farm where she often worked, a former neighbour, her best friend, her father... In the conversations she has with them, she tries to find out more about what happened in the first years of her life. About who she was, who she is, and who she wants to become. Chelsea's Blues shows how complicated it can be to grow up in the youth care system, and yet how things can still turn out well.
Chelsea werd op jonge leeftijd in een jeugdinstelling geplaatst. In Chelsea's Blues gaat ze op bezoek bij mensen die belangrijk zijn voor haar: haar jeugdrechter, de zorgboer waar ze vaak ging werken, een voormalige buurvrouw, haar beste vriendin, haar vader... In de gesprekken die ze met hen heeft, probeert ze iets meer te weten te komen over wat er in de eerste jaren van haar leven is gebeurd. Over wie ze was, wie ze is en wie ze wil worden. Chelsea's Blues is een biografische documentaire die laat zien dat het heel ingewikkeld kan zijn om op te groeien in de jeugdzorg en dat het toch nog goed kan aflopen.
