synopsis

Coppelia combines enchanting animation and live-action dance in a modern retelling of the love story between Swan and Franz, jeopardised by Dr Coppelius and his uncannily beautiful protégé Coppelia. With a diverse and world-class cast, this unconventional adaptation sees Dr Coppelius as a cosmetic surgeon, whose lure of superficial beauty poisons the town. Swan must uncover the truth about the popular newcomer who puts her community and the life of her beloved Franz in danger. As the townspeople come to learn, in an increasingly image-conscious culture, it’s never been more important to be yourself.

Coppelia combineert betoverende animatie en live-action-dans in een moderne hervertelling van het liefdesverhaal tussen Zwaan en Franz, dat in gevaar wordt gebracht door Dr Coppelius en zijn griezelig mooie protegé Coppelia. Met een diverse cast van wereldklasse ziet deze onconventionele bewerking Dr Coppelius als een cosmetisch chirurg, wiens verleiding van oppervlakkige schoonheid de stad vergiftigt. Swan moet de waarheid ontdekken over de populaire nieuwkomer die haar gemeenschap en het leven van haar geliefde Franz in gevaar brengt. Zoals de inwoners van de stad leren, is het in een steeds meer op imago gerichte cultuur nog nooit zo belangrijk geweest om jezelf te zijn.
