synopsis

Dance of Life is an intimate, poetic portrait of Nastasia, a charismatic young dancer. When Nastasia dances, she finds the profound connection and inner tranquility she has always yearned for since her childhood. Now that she is about to become a mother for the first time, her life takes a new turn and she finds herself torn between conflicting emotions. As fears and dreams from the past arise, she wonders if she will be able to raise her child the way she has always wanted.
In Dance of Life neemt Nastasia, een danseres van 28 jaar met een verrassend grote levenswijsheid, ons mee in haar wereld en geeft een tedere maar tegelijk ontwapenend oprechte blik op wie ze is. Al dansend vindt ze de diepe connectie, de rust en troost die ze zo gemist heeft tijdens haar kindertijd. Nu ze zelf op het punt staat om voor het eerst moeder te worden, neemt haar leven een nieuwe wending en worstelt ze met gemengde gevoelens. De moeilijke relatie met haar vader heeft sporen nagelaten en haar zelfvertrouwen aangetast. Ze heeft altijd gehunkerd naar een diepe, onlosmakelijke verbondenheid en er steeds naar gezocht in de dans. Vroeger was ze enkel verantwoordelijk voor zichzelf en zwierf ze vrij en ook soms rusteloos rond. Nu vraagt ze zich af of ze tegen zo’n grote verantwoordelijkheid opgewassen zal zijn en of ze de rust zal vinden om haar kind op te voeden zoals ze het steeds voor ogen gehad heeft.
