synopsis

November 1914, the front in Flanders. In a partly destroyed first aid post, only the wounded French soldier François is left alive. He is lying on a cot and has an open wound in his side. Suddenly he sees the silhouette of an immense figure wearing a pointed helmet. The inexperienced young German, Friedrich, has been sent to the front because his gigantic stature will terrify the enemy. Slowly he steps towards the injured man. François keeps the only weapon he has, a grenade, ready for use. Friedrich pulls out a revolver... Are the two young 'enemies' set on killing each other, or does the confrontation take a different turn?
Novembre 1914, le front des Flandres. Dans un poste de secours en partie détruit, le soldat français blessé François est le seul qui reste. Il est allongé sur un lit de camp et a une plaie ouverte sur le côté. Soudain, il voit se profiler la silhouette d'un personnage avec un casque pointu sur la tête. Le jeune Allemand inexpérimenté, Friedrich, en raison de sa taille gigantesque, a été envoyé au front pour effrayer l'ennemi. Lentement, il s'avance vers la personne blessée. François garde la seule arme qu'il possède, une grenade, prête à l'emploi. Friedrich sort un revolver… Les deux jeunes « ennemis » s'entretueront-ils ou la confrontation prendra-t-elle une tournure différente ?
Eerste Wereldoorlog, 1914. Onder de meest bizarre omstandigheden zien we hoe een eerste ontmoeting tussen twee vijanden plaatsvindt. Een Duitse reus van drie meter, die tegen zijn zin door het keizerlijke leger naar het westelijke front gestuurd werd, en een Franse soldaat. Deze laatste, die amateur-goochelaar blijkt te zijn, zal met zijn trucjes herinneringen oproepen bij de reus. De flashbacks geven het groeiproces en ook de vernederingen weer die de reus heeft moeten ondergaan om zijn plek in het leger te veroveren, ondanks het hebben van een eigen, andere passie. De ontmoeting geeft hoop voor de toekomst en toont het begin van een mooie vriendschap in onzekere tijden.
