Un architecte de 40 ans commence à douter de son rôle de père dans un monde tombant dans la décadence. Lorsqu’il rencontre une jeune fille polonaise, il s’enfuit avec elle à Rhodes. Sa peur psycho-moralisatrice est présentée dans une série de flash-backs lorsque le détournement de son avion l’oblige à faire le point sur sa vie.
