synopsis

Society is evolving at a remarkable speed. Fierce debates rage around issues such as gender, climate and racism. Activists speed ahead, while others respond by indignantly stepping on the brakes. Boosted considerably by social media, polarisation is taking on unprecedented forms. What is going on here? And how can we make progress and emerge from this tense situation?
De snelheid waaraan de maatschappij en de morele regels evolueren de laatste jaren, is opmerkelijk. Rond thema’s als gender, klimaat en racisme woeden heftige maatschappelijke debatten. Activisten hollen voorop, anderen drukken als reactie verontwaardigd op de rem. Flink gestimuleerd door de sociale media, neemt de polarisatie ongekende vormen aan. Wat is er hier aan de hand? En hoe krijgen we in deze gespannen situatie dan toch snel die noodzakelijke vooruitgang gerealiseerd?
