Un général américain accusé de comportement brutal au Vietnam est transféré au siège des Nations Unies en Belgique. Sa fille et lui vivent dans une villa spacieuse où, lui et Tsai, son caporal-chef, jouent à des jeux de guerre dans les buissons environnants. Lorsqu’un enquêteur militaire se met à se renseigner sur le passé du général, il est choqué et commence à se poser des questions.
