Every weekend all across Belgium, thousands of proud and nervous football fathers cheer their football sons. One of them is Bert, who is only too happy that his 12-year-old son Gilles is a talented and passionate football player. Nowadays Bert and his wife Anne run a local shop. Papa Bert is not just Gilles' most loyal supporter, he is also his personal coach.

synopsis

Every weekend all across Belgium, thousands of proud and nervous football fathers cheer their football sons. One of them is Bert, who is only too happy that his 12-year-old son Gilles is a talented and passionate football player. Nowadays Bert and his wife Anne run a local shop. Papa Bert is not just Gilles' most loyal supporter, he is also his personal coach. Gilles' ultimate dream and ambition is to run onto the pitch of the King Baudouin Stadium in the shirt of the Red Devils. But then Bert dies unexpectedly and Gilles' life crumbles apart. Gilles faces a difficult search in order to find his place in his new life. And will there be any room left for practice, football - and a career as a Red Devil? Gilles is a film about making choices, dreams, letting go and about love. Sometimes you win when you loose.
Tous les week-ends, à travers la Belgique, des milliers de pères footballeurs fiers et nerveux encouragent leur fils footballeur. Bert est l’un d’entre eux. Il est plus qu’heureux que Gilles, son fils de 12 ans, soit un joueur de foot passionné et talentueux. Bert et sa femme Anne tiennent un magasin local. Bert est non seulement le plus loyal supporter de son fils, mais aussi son entraîneur personnel. La plus grande ambition, et le plus grand rêve de Gilles est de jouer pour les Diables Rouges sur le terrain du Stade Roi Baudouin. Mais lorsque Bert meurt subitement, la vie de Gilles s’effondre. Il doit faire face à des difficultés et trouver sa place dans sa nouvelle vie. Va-t-il rester une place pour les entraînements de football et une carrière dans les Diables Rouges ? Gilles est un film sur l’obligation de faire des choix, les rêves, l’abandon et l’amour. Parfois, on gagne à perdre quelque chose.
