synopsis

A friendship arises spontaneously, it happens unexpected, and you can't get away from it. But three quarters of a century, can anyone handle this? A story about 'ni sans toi, ni avec toi'. A story about love and disappointments. A story about fighting, and missing each other at the same time.
Een vriendschap kies je niet, ze overvalt je en je komt er nooit meer vanaf. Maar driekwart eeuw vriendschap, kan een mens dat aan? Centraal staan Nel en Eva, twee vriendinnen, die achttien zijn aan het eind van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Nel woont samen met haar moeder in een duowoning in de buitenwijk van een Vlaamse provinciestad. Het contrast met de dochter van hun nieuwe buren kan niet groter zijn. Terwijl Nel flamboyant en levenslustig is en bruist van energie, is Eva eerder een grijze muis: onervaren, braaf en conservatief. Maar wanneer ze elkaar op een bevrijdingsbal uit de penarie helpen, ontluikt er een onwaarschijnlijke vriendschap. Het leven heeft voor hen allebei verrassende wendingen in petto, maar hun vriendschap, die blijft.
Vriendinnen brengt een verhaal over ni sans toi, ni avec toi. Een verhaal over liefdes en ontgoochelingen. Een verhaal over ruziemaken en elkaar toch missen. Maar ook een feelgood verhaal, waar een vleugje nostalgie en romantiek nooit ver weg zijn.
