Soweto is known worldwide as the hotbed of resistance against the former apartheid regime in South Africa but, in recent years, the township has become a popular tourist attraction.

synopsis

The slums of Kliptown are one of the highlights for those who visit Soweto on a bus tour. Sizwe lives here, daydreaming about his past and finding peace in his small garden. For Chikko, the area is a source of inspiration for his art and he despises the presence of the tour buses. But what if tour guides, like Louis, have good intentions?
Soweto est mondialement connu comme le foyer de résistance contre l’ancien régime d’apartheid en Afrique du Sud. Ces dernières années, le canton est devenu une attraction touristique populaire. Les taudis de Kliptown sont également un des points forts pour ceux qui visitent Soweto avec un bus. Sizwe vit dans ce quartier. Il rêvasse sur son passé et trouve la paix dans son jardin. Pour Chikko le quartier est une source d’inspiration. A travers l’art, il exprime son opposition à la présence des autocars de tourisme. Mais quand est-il si les guides touristiques, comme Louis, ont de bonnes intentions?
Soweto staat wereldwijd bekend als de broeihaard van verzet tegen het voormalige apartheidsregime in Zuid-Afrika. De laatste jaren is deze populaire township uitgegroeid tot toeristische bezienswaardigheid. De sloppenwijk van Kliptown is daarbij één van de highlights voor wie Soweto met een bus bezoekt. In die wijk woont Sizwe die dagdromend over zijn jeugd in zijn tuintje tot rust komt. Voor Chikko vormt de wijk een bron van inspiratie. Via kunst probeert hij zich tegen de aanwezigheid van de tourbussen te verzetten. Maar wat als tourgidsen, zoals Louis, het helemaal niet slecht bedoelen?
