A teenage girl tries to escape the stifling demands of a patriarchal medieval society.
synopsis
- The Low Countries, 1490. Sixteen-year-old Hasse manages to escape poverty and her suffocating village by saving the life of a mercenary. But her quest for freedom diverges from the patriarchal medieval society in which she lives. Driven by his secret love for Hasse, the 18-year-old monk Egidius tries to stop her.
