Stemming from a personal account of a search for liberation set in the US during the early 1970s, Liberty: An Ephemeral Statute reflects upon post-'68 desires for emancipation, emigration, and education through an impressionistic memoir and portrait of the filmmaker's mother back home in Scotland today.
À travers un récit personnel de quête de libération aux Etats-Unis au début des années 70, Liberty: An Ephemeral Statute se penche sur les désirs d'émancipation, d'émigration et d'éducation de l'après-68. Le film esquisse un portrait de la mère de la cinéaste aujourd'hui de retour en Ecosse, sous le prisme de ses mémoires impressionistes.
Vertrekkend van een persoonlijk verhaal over een zoektocht naar bevrijding in het Verenigde Staten van de vroege jaren ’70 reflecteert Liberty: An Ephemeral Statute op post-‘68 verlangens naar emancipatie, emigratie en onderwijs aan de hand van impressionistische memoires en een portret van de moeder van de filmmaker, thuis in Schotland vandaag.
