After witnessing a Christmas miracle, three beggars find themselves at odds during the next festive season.

synopsis

Three beggars - Suskewiet, Pitje Vogel and Schrobberbeeck - are tired of being poor and hungry so decide to sing the Epiphany on Christmas Eve. Money, food and drink are thrust upon them but, on their way home, they get lost in the woods and witness the birth of Baby Jesus. Dazzled by this miracle, they give away all their bounty. When Christmas comes round again, they find themselves conflicted and at odds.
Suskewiet, Pitje Vogel et Schrobberbeeck sont trois miséreux qui décident de partir se faire un peu d’argent à la veille de Noël en chantant des chants d’épiphanie de porte à porte. Leur plan marche mieux qu’ils ne pouvaient l’espérer et ils font rapidement fortune en chantant. Chemin faisant, nos trois protagonistes s’égarent dans la forêt et assistent, stupéfaits, à la naissance de Petit Bébé Jésus. Tellement déboussolés par cette apparition, ils donnent tous leurs biens au nouveau-né. L’année suivante, ils décident de renouveler l’expérience mais n’arrivent pas à s’accorder sur l’usage à faire de leurs gains. Ils se disputent à propos des dons et reprennent chacun leur propre chemin .
Wanneer de drie armoedzaaiers Suskewiet, Pitje Vogel en Schrobberbeeck genoeg hebben van de armoede en de honger waarin ze leven besluiten ze Driekoningen te zingen. Hun plan wordt een succes en ze zingen zich rijk. Op de terugweg naar het café verdwalen ze in het bos, en worden overwacht getuige van de geboorte van kinneke Jezus. Helemaal ondersteboven van deze wonderijke gebeurtenis geven ze al hun hun geschenken af. Wanneer ze terug alleen zijn twijfelen ze hoe ze zich moeten voelen blij of verdrietig. De kerstmis erop besluiten ze opnieuw te gaan zingen maar er ontstaat ruzie en de drie vallen uit elkaar.
