synopsis

In his early twenties, Tore Sercu was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an aggressive and incurable cancer. He was soon declared a palliative case, with nothing more to be done beyond managing his pain. Three years on, he is still living in extra time. His family constantly walk the tightrope between consciously saying goodbye and consciously living. It is a complex journey they now hope to share in this documentary, offering others a glimpse of their experience.
Vivre en prolongation
"Leven in verlengingen" brengt het verhaal van Tore Sercu, zoon van Ilse Vanbrabant en van regisseur en acteur Mathias Sercu. Tore leeft al ruim 3 jaar in 'verlengingen'. Hij kreeg de diagnose van een agressieve en ongeneeslijke kanker: multipel myeloom. Hij werd al snel 'palliatief verklaard'. Ruim 3 jaar later balanceren Tore en zijn gezin voortdurend tussen bewust afscheid nemen en bewust leven. Een complex proces waar ze nu een waardevolle inkijk in willen geven.
