synopsis

Lobi, meaning both 'yesterday' and 'tomorrow' in Lingala, is an experimental visual essay on the 50th anniversary of the Democratic Republic Congo's independence. Nine young filmmakers of Congolese and Belgian origin collaborated in Kinshasa to create this Super8 film, expressing nine different views that merge into a quest for a common language to broach the past, conceive the present and imagine the future.
Lobi, qui signifie à la fois "hier" et "demain" en Lingala, est un essai visuel expérimental sur le 50^ème anniversaire de l’indépendance du Congo. Neuf jeunes réalisateurs d’origine congolaise ou belge ont collaboré à Kinshasa pour créer ce film, représentant neuf différents points de vue qui se rejoignent dans la quête pour une langue commune pour aborder le passer, concevoir le présent et imaginer le future.
