Things change dramatically for the Desmet family when they win the lottery jackpot, and not in a good way...

synopsis

The Desmet family lives packed together in a block of flats in a working-class area. The place is always hectic and the atmosphere sometimes very tense. But things change when they win the lottery jackpot. Each little lie has unexpected consequences and each little incident triggers off a series of humorous events full of misunderstandings and confusion.
Het gezin Desmet woont met z'n vieren in een flatgebouw in een volkse wijk. Vader Rudy werkt als geldkoerier, zijn vrouw Sandra is schoonmaakster bij een klein PR-bureau, en hun ietwat alternatieve zoon Jasper studeert - als eerste in de familie - af aan het ASO. Samen met Reinhilde, de eigenzinnige inwonende moeder van Rudy, delen ze lief en leed. Dicht op elkaar, meestal gezellig, altijd hectisch en soms intens. Samen spelen ze elke week op de Lotto. En elke week hopen ze, zoals zovelen, op het groot lot. Als ze dat groot lot effectief winnen, zijn Rudy en Sandra de koning te rijk. Ze willen hun geluk van de daken schreeuwen. Tot de psycholoog van de loterij, Carl, hen duidelijk maakt dat dit een slecht idee is. Vanaf dan worden de Desmets geconfronteerd met de onverwachte resultaten van het winnen van het groot lot. Elke kleine leugen zorgt voor een onverwacht resultaat en elk klein voorval groeit uit tot een verhaal vol humor, misverstanden en verwarring.
