synopsis

On his downfall from Heaven to Hell, Lucifer passes through the earthly paradise, a village in Mexico, where elderly Lupita and her granddaughter Maria live. Lupita's brother Emanuel pretends he's paralyzed so he can drink and gamble while the two women tend to the sheep. Lucifer senses an opportunity and plays the miraculous healer. He forces Emanuel to walk again, seduces Maria and makes Lupita doubt about her faith. He didn't bring bad luck, he only illuminated the line between good and evil, where it didn't exist before.
Dans sa chute du ciel vers l’enfer, Lucifer passe par le paradis terrestre, un village mexicain, où une petite vieille, Lupita, vit avec sa petite-fille Maria. Le frère de Lupita, Emanuel, feint la paralysie pour pouvoir passer son temps à boire et à jouer, laissant les deux femmes seules pour garder les moutons. Lucifer y voit une opportunité et joue au guérisseur miraculeux. Il oblige Emanuel à marcher à nouveau, séduit Maria et fait douter Lupita de sa foi. Il n'a pas apporté la malchance, il n’a fait qu’éclaircir la ligne entre le bien et le mal, qui n'existait pas avant.
Op zijn ondergang van hemel naar de hel, komt Lucifer langs het aardse paradijs, een klein dorpje in Mexico, waar de oude Lupita en haar kleindochter Maria leven. Lupita's broer Emanuel veinst zijn verlamming, zodat hij kan drinken en gokken terwijl de vrouwen de schapen hoeden. Lucifer ziet een kans Gods perfecte creatie alsnog te verwarren en speelt voor wonderbaarlijke genezer. Hij dwingt Emanuel weer te lopen, verleidt Maria en laat Lupita twijfelen over haar geloof. Hij bracht geen ongeluk, hij verlichtte enkel de lijn tussen goed en kwaad die voorheen niet bestond.
