Mitten follows the final weeks of rehearsal of Mitten wir im Leben sind, a performance by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, her company Rosas and cellist Jean- Guihen Queyras, based on the six cello suites by Johann Sebastian Bach. The film offers a glance into De Keersmaeker's meticulous working process, building a choreographic universe by studying the musical composition. This intense creative process of continuously reshaping and honing, characterised by an inexhaustible longing for precision and detail, is reflected in the filmmakers' patient look at the work of the choreographer, the musician and the dancers.
Mitten suit les dernières semaines de répétition de Mitten wir im Leben sind, un spectacle élaboré par la chorégraphe Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, sa compagnie Rosas et le violoncelliste Jean-Guihen Queyras sur les Six suites pour violoncelle de Johann Sebastian Bach. Le film donne un aperçu de la minutie avec laquelle De Keersmaeker déploie un univers chorégraphique à partir de l’étude de l’écriture musicale. Mitten volgt de laatste repetitieweken van Mitten wir im Leben sind, een voorstelling van choreografe Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, haar gezelschap Rosas en cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras op basis van de zes cellosuites van Johann Sebastian Bach. De film geeft een beeld van De Keersmaekers minutieuze werkwijze, waarbij een choreografisch universum wordt opgebouwd aan de hand van een studie van de muzikale schriftuur.
