A la mort d’un aristocrate séduisant, on découvre qu’il n’est pas un homme, mais une femme. Dans ce film, Monsieur Hawarden a un domestique fidèle qui partage son secret. Monsieur Hawarden lui-même fait une virée nocturne à Spa : il enfile des vêtements féminins, s’offre à un amant qu’il vient de rencontrer, puis se suicide.
