synopsis

What started as an inquiry into the Belgian weapons used in different revolutionary movements, turned into a portrait of what has become of the revolutionary impulse itself. In the first part, focused on the Palestinian liberation struggle, we follow Hassan Al Balawi, a Palestinian diplomat in Brussels, as he returns to his homeland for the fifteenth anniversary of the death of Yasser Arafat, the historical leader of the PLO. Filmed in 2019, Balawi’s journey from Jericho to Gaza draws a subjective image of the situation that led to the tragic events that began on 7 October 2023.
Ce qui a commencé comme une enquête sur les armes belges utilisées dans différents mouvements révolutionnaires, s'est finalement transformé en un portrait de ce qu'il est advenu de l'impulsion révolutionnaire elle-même. Dans la première partie, centrée sur la lutte de libération palestinienne, nous suivons le protagoniste, Hassan Al Balawi, diplomate palestinien à Bruxelles, alors qu'il retourne dans son pays à l'occasion du 15e anniversaire de la mort de Yasser Arafat, le leader historique de l'OLP. Filmé en 2019, le voyage de Balawi de Jéricho à Gaza dessine une image subjective de la situation qui a conduit aux événements tragiques qui ont commencé le 7 octobre 2023.
Wat begon als een onderzoek naar de Belgische wapens die in verschillende revolutionaire bewegingen werden gebruikt, transformeerde uiteindelijk in een portret van wat er van de revolutionaire impuls zelf is geworden. In het eerste deel, gericht op de Palestijnse bevrijdingsstrijd, volgen we de hoofdpersoon - Hassan Al Balawi - een Palestijnse diplomaat in Brussel, wanneer hij terugkeert naar zijn thuisland ter gelegenheid van de 15e verjaardag van de dood van Yasser Arafat, de historische leider van de PLO. Balawi's reis van Jericho naar Gaza, gefilmd in 2019, schetst een subjectief beeld van de situatie die leidde tot de tragische gebeurtenissen die begonnen op 7 oktober 2023.
