The story of John Beckers, who is given a final chance by his wife and two kids to get his life back on track again and regain their trust. After his umpteenth stay in rehab, he joins his father-in-law's company with renewed courage and starts working for the Antwerp port.

synopsis

Once upon a time John Beckers was Flanders' favourite TV celebrity. In his heyday, he ruled the small screen and the audience absolutely adored him. His heavy addiction to drinking and gambling led him down a dark path, however, causing John to lose almost everything he had worked so hard for. Popularity, friends and success disappeared faster than they had come.Over Water tells the story of Beckers, who is given a final chance by his wife and two kids to get his life back on track again and regain their trust. After his umpteenth stay in rehab, he joins his father-in-law's company with renewed courage and starts working for the port. It's a process of ups and downs, until the day comes when he has the port start working for him.
Over Water illustrates how an addict can make the wrong choices with the right intentions. And how, along the way, a newbie can become a lynchpin in the most lucrative but also by far the most dangerous dealings on the Antwerp docks.
In Over Water krijgt de voormalige tv-ster John Beckers van zijn vrouw Marjan en zijn twee kinderen een allerlaatste kans om zijn leven weer op de rails te krijgen. Na een verblijf in een ontwenningsklinkiek gaat hij daarom met vernieuwde moed aan de slag in de haven, bij het familiale expeditiebedrijf van zijn schoonvader. John vecht tegen zijn oude demonen en tegen nieuwe verleidingen, maar komt al snel in het circuit terecht van de gevaarlijkste en lucratiefste handel aan de dokken: cocaine.
