synopsis

The Royal Museum for Central Africa closes for renovation. Not only the building and the museum cabinets are in need of renewal: the spirit of the museum has to be brought into this century. In COMRAF, a board of advisors, the process of decolonization leads to fierce discussions.
Le Musée royal de l'Afrique centrale ferme ses portes pour rénovation. Il n'y a pas que le bâtiment et les armoires du musée qui doivent être rénovés : l'esprit du musée doit aussi être adapté. Au sein du COMRAF, un conseil consultatif, le processus de décolonisation donne lieu à de vives discussions.
Het Koninklijk Museum voor Midden-Afrika gaat dicht voor renovatie. Niet alleen het gebouw en de museumkasten zijn aan vernieuwing toe: ook de geest van het museum moet aangepast worden aan zijn tijd. In de adviesraad COMRAF leidt het proces van dekolonisatie tot felle discussies.
