Along the Lawa River in the North of the Amazon rainforest, the Wayana people silently struggle to survive as exterior intruders threaten their land, culture, and future.

synopsis

In the north of the Amazon rainforest, the Lawa River flows through the territory of the indigenous Wayana people. On both sides of the river, they are threatened by the rise of illegal gold mining, which poisons the entire region with mercury. As a result, this ancient habitat is overrun by intruders, who the Wayanas call “Parasisi”. The Wayanas guide us through their reality, revealing their silent struggle for self-determination, fundamental rights, identity, security, and health.
Dans le nord de la forêt Amazonienne, la rivière Lawa traverse le territoire des Wayanas. Des deux côtés de la rivière, ils sont confrontés à des menaces croissantes dues à l'orpaillage illégal, qui empoisonne toute la région avec du mercure. En conséquence, cet habitat ancestral est envahi par des intrus, que les Wayanas appellent “Parasisi.” Les personnages nous guident à travers leur réalité, dévoilant ainsi leur lutte silencieuse pour l’autodétermination, les droits fonciers, l’identité, la sécurité et la santé.
In het noorden van het Amazonewoud stroomt de Lawarivier door het leefgebied van de inheemse Wayana's. Aan beide kanten van de rivier worden ze bedreigd door toenemende illegale goudwinning, die het hele gebied vergiftigt met kwik.
Als gevolg daarvan wordt deze eeuwenoude habitat overspoeld door indringers, die ze zelf 'Parasisi' noemen. De personages gidsen ons door hun realiteit en onthullen zo hun stille strijd voor zelfbeschikking, grondrechten, identiteit, veiligheid en gezondheid.
