When his family faces hard times, Rubens starts concentrating on painting. He decides to go to Italy where he soon becomes the Italian court painter. But after a series of incidents, he returns to Antwerp. Here his natural talent starts to show even more and he marries Isabelle Brant. The biggest blow in Rubens' life though, is the death of his wife and daughter, caused by the plague. At the age of 50, he remarries a much younger woman and remains an inspired and talented artist.
