Mia lives in a dystopian near future where having children is the duty of every woman but Mia doesn't want children.

synopsis

Mia doesn't want children. She has been with her husband Wout for several years when one day, he comes home with a team offering VR simulation therapy, promoted by the state. Through scans of Mia and Wout's faces, they create a VR simulation, a SIM, of what a baby conceived by the two of them might look like. The therapy involves having Mia interact with her VR baby every day on the assumption that it will trigger maternal feelings in her. Failure to cooperate could have dire consequences.
Mia wil geen kinderen. Ze is al enkele jaren samen met haar man Wout wanneer die op een dag thuiskomt met een team dat VR-simulation-therapie aanbiedt, gepromoot door de staat. Via scans van Mia en Wouts gezichten maken ze een VR- simulatie, een SIM, van hoe een baby van hen twee er zou kunnen uitzien. De therapie houdt in dat Mia elke dag met haar VR-baby bezig moet zijn in de veronderstelling dat dat bij haar moedergevoelens zal opwekken. Niet meewerken kan grote gevolgen hebben.
