Son is a visual poem about remembering and the difficulty of depicting true memories.

synopsis

A film essay in which the filmmaker explores his memories of his mother's brain tumour when he was 14. Because he was so young it made him think his mother had somehow fundamentally changed. In his search for the essence of his mother, he begins to watch old home videos but soon comes to understand that these memories were created ones. So, he loses his mother for a second time.
Dans son essai Son, le réalisateur illustre ses souvenirs et sentiments par rapport à la tumeur au cerveau de sa mère. Il avait quatorze ans. Son jeune âge à ce moment a eu une influence sur sa vision de sa mère. Il ne pouvait ignorer l’idée qu'elle avait changé. Changé par rapport à la femme qui lui avait donné naissance. Afin de retrouver sa mère disparue, il a commencé à regarder d’anciennes vidéos privées. Alors qu’il regardait ces vidéos il s’est rendu compte que ses souvenirs étaient formés par les images de ces vidéos. C’est ainsi qu’il a perdu sa mère une seconde fois. Il créa un nouveau souvenir de sa mère dans les mêmes circonstances que le dernier souvenir visuel qu’il avait d’elle avant l’opération. Essayant de récupérer les souvenirs où il les avait laissés.
Son est un poème visuel sur le fait de se souvenir et la nécessité impossible à satisfaire de dépeindre ces souvenirs.
Zoon is een visueel gedicht waarin de filmmaker zijn gevoelens over de hersentumor van zijn moeder formuleert. Hij was 14. Omdat hij zo jong was heeft dit voorval zijn kijk op zijn moeder beïnvloed. De idee dat zijn moeder een verandering heeft ondergaan (en dus een andere vrouw was dan die hem ter wereld hielp) is hem bijgebleven.
In zijn zoektocht naar zijn vroegere moeder begon hij oude home videos te bekijken. Hij besefte snel dat zijn herinneringen zich vormden naar die videobeelden. Aldus, hij verloor zijn moeder voor een tweede keer. Hij creëerde een nieuwe herinnering van zijn moeder. In dezelfde omstandigheden als die van zijn laatste visuele herinnering van voor de operatie. Trachtend zijn herinnering op te pikken waar hij ze achterliet.
Zoon is een visueel gedicht over herinneren en de onbevredigbare noodzaak die herinnering te verbeelden.
