A sailing ship crosses the Arctic Ocean, while a narrator lends her voice to people who have had psychopathological episodes.

synopsis

Florence (played by Charlotte Rampling) listens on headphones to recorded accounts of people who have had psychopathological episodes. Diane, Bruno and Gilles describe what they have experienced, while Florence's notes and inner voice tell us more about her own past psychoses. With words and stories intertwined, we journey on a large sailing ship through the vast Arctic Ocean. The Anchor is an experimental film that fictionalises documentary through images of a trip to the North Pole and a creative use of the protagonists' voices.
Florence luistert via een koptelefoon naar de opgenomen getuigenissen van mensen die waanzin ervaren hebben. Diane, Bruno en Gilles beschrijven wat ze hebben meegemaakt. Ook de aantekeningen en de innerlijke stem van Florence vertellen over haar tocht door de psychose. Langs ineengestrengelde woorden en verhalen varen we aan boord van een groot zeilschip door de onmetelijke Arctische gebieden. Het anker is een experimentele film die documentaire getuigenissen fictionaliseert door middel van beelden van een reis naar de Noordpool en door creatief gebruik van de stemmen van de hoofdrolspelers.
