Marcel Pagnol revisits his childhood, guided by the young boy he used to be.

synopsis

In 1955, 60-year-old Marcel Pagnol is an acclaimed playwright and filmmaker. When the editor-in-chief of Elle Magazine commissions him to write a weekly column about his childhood, he sees this as a great opportunity to go back to his artistic roots. Realising his memory is failing him, and deeply affected by the disappointing results of his last two plays, Pagnol starts to doubt his ability to pursue this work. Then Little Marcel – the young boy he used to be – appears to him, as if by magic. Together, they explore Marcel Pagnol’s incredible history, and bring back to life his most cherished encounters and memories.
En 1955, Marcel Pagnol est un cinéaste reconnu. Lorsque le magazine ELLE lui commande une rubrique sur son enfance, il y voit l’opportunité de revenir à ses débuts : l'écriture. Réalisant que sa mémoire lui fait défaut et affecté par le succès mitigé de ses dernières pièces, Pagnol commence à douter. Jusqu'à ce que le petit Marcel - le garçon qu'il a été - lui apparaisse comme par magie. Ensemble, ils vont explorer son passé et faire revivre ses plus belles rencontres et souvenirs les plus chers...
In 1955 is de 60-jarige Marcel Pagnol een bekend en veelgeprezen toneelschrijver en filmmaker. Wanneer de hoofdredactrice van ELLE Magazine opdracht geeft voor een wekelijkse column over Pagnols jeugd, ziet hij dit als een uitgelezen kans om terug te keren naar zijn artistieke wortels: schrijven. Pagnol realiseert zich dat zijn geheugen hem in de steek laat en hij is diep getroffen door de teleurstellende resultaten van zijn laatste twee toneelstukken. Totdat de kleine Marcel - de jongen die hij vroeger was - als bij toverslag aan hem verschijnt. Samen zullen ze het ongelooflijke leven van Marcel Pagnol verkennen en zijn meest dierbare ontmoetingen en herinneringen weer tot leven wekken…
