synopsis

Eight-year-old Eliette lives in a country where music has been banned by the King. A wandering minstrel from the East has his instruments confiscated. He is not the sort of person to like being told what to do. He makes friends with Eliette, who has made a flute from a wild reed in secret. Together they will lead the people in a rebellion against tyranny.
Eliette, une petite fille de huit ans, vit dans un pays où le roi a interdit la musique. Un troubadour venu d’Orient s’y fait confisquer ses instruments. Mais il est peu enclin à la servitude et rencontre Eliette qui a sculpté en cachette une flûte dans un roseau sauvage. Eliette et le troubadour se lient d’amitié. Ensemble ils vont mener le peuple à se libérer de la tyrannie.
Eliette, een meisje van acht, leeft in een land dat geregeerd wordt door een tirannieke koning die muziek verboden heeft. Op een dag arriveert er een troubadour uit de Oriënt wiens fluit in beslag genomen wordt. Vrij van geest als hij is, snijdt hij een nieuwe uit een wilde rietstengel. Hij ontmoet vervolgens Eliette met wie hij snel vriendschap sluit, want ook zij heeft in het geniep een fluit gemaakt. Samen zullen ze het volk zover krijgen dat het zich bevrijdt van de tirannie.
