Three women imprisoned in the Ghent City Jail tell their stories. But far more than being confronted with detainees, we get to know them as true human beings. They get the time that is necessary to really get to know someone. Without any frills, straightforward. A film about the ambiguity of intimacy, about the distance of three women who have to continue their lives behind bars. 'When I look into the mirror, I don't find that I look anything like my criminal record,' tells one of the three women. That confrontation is important: trying to get as close to these people as possible, and to put someone's prejudices at stake.

Ils prennent le temps qui est nécessaire pour réellement apprendre à connaître une personne. D’une manière franche et sans aucune fioriture. Un film sur l’ambiguïté et l’intimité, sur la distance de trois femmes qui doivent continuer leur vie sous les verrous. ‘Lorsque je me regarde dans le miroir, je n’ai pas l’impression que mes crimes me ressemblent ’ explique l’une des trois femmes. Cette confrontation est importante : essayer de se rapprocher au maximum de la personne, sans avoir de préjugés.

Een film over ambiguïteit en intimiteit, over de afstand van drie vrouwen die hun leven achter slot en grendel moeten voortzetten. Als ik naar mezelf in de spiegel kijk, heb ik niet het gevoel dat ik op mijn strafblad lijk," legt een van de drie vrouwen uit. Deze confrontatie is belangrijk: proberen zo dicht mogelijk bij de persoon te komen, zonder vooroordelen te hebben.
