Transnistra is an intimate and vital account of young people on the margins, as well as a universal story of love, youth culture and coming-of-age in a complex, contradictory world.

synopsis

Set in the self-appointed nation Transnistria (Priednestrovia), a narrow strip of land adjacent to the Ukraine where, against an unforgiving landscape of Soviet heritage, a group of 16-year-olds search for safety, freedom and meaning. A naturalistic and humane documentary feature, Transnistra charts a narrative from a sweltering, carefree summer through an unforgiving winter, as each of the film's disparate teenagers learn to understand each other's hopes and needs.
Ce film, superbement tourné en 16 mm par la chef-opératrice Virginie Surdej et doté d’une bande originale sublime qui a un son folksy assez éthérée, signé par Walter Hus, suit les jeunes vies de Tanya et de sa bande d'amirateurs alors que la Transnistrie elle-même essaie d'affirmer sa propre indépendance.
Transnistra is een intiem en vitaal verslag van liefde en vriendschap in een complexe, tegenstrijdige wereld, atmosferisch gefilmd op 16mm. Prijswinnend regisseur Anna Eborn (Pine Ridge) volgt op intieme wijze een groep jonge mensen tijdens een zinderende, zorgeloze zomer en door een meedogenloze winter in de zelfbenoemde staat Transnistrië, waar de nationale vlag nog steeds de hamer en sikkel draagt.
