Trinitite explores Belgian postwar history, with sound and image relating to awakening, emancipation and decay.

synopsis

Trinitite deals with Belgian postwar history, with sound and image relating to awakening, emancipation and decay. The film is set up as a pseudo-didactic alternative lecture dealing with obscure details in our national history. The footage stems from national television reporting with public interviews questioning class and gender at school, at work and in private, in the late sixties/early seventies. The national archive is rearranged and looked at from a contemporary point of view.
Trinitite behandelt de Belgische naoorlogse geschiedenis via geluid en beeld en focust hierbij op ontwaken, emancipatie en verval. De film is opgezet als een pseudodidactische alternatieve lezing van onduidelijke details in onze nationale geschiedenis. Het beeldmateriaal komt uit nationale televisiereportages met openbare interviews waarin klasse en geslacht worden bevraagd op school, op het werk en in de privé-sfeer, eind jaren zestig, begin jaren zeventig. Het nationale archief wordt opnieuw gerangschikt en bekeken vanuit een hedendaags oogpunt.
