synopsis

An intimate portrait of the Andries family: 10 siblings who live in 10 houses next to each other with gardens seamlessly connected. But when one brother dies, they realise that they will slowly have to let go of their unique way of living together.
Het verhaal van d’Andriezenstraat begint bij Florentine en Frans Andries. Ten huize Andries groeiden twaalf kinderen op. Toen Frans in de jaren na de oorlog nog amper van zijn boerenstiel kon leven, verdeelde hij zijn drie hectaren onder zijn kinderen. Wie trouwde kreeg een stuk grond om op te bouwen. Zijn vurige wens om iedereen met elkaar verbonden te laten samenleven, probeerde hij op deze manier in vervulling te laten gaan. Tien van de twaalf kinderen maakten er dankbaar gebruik van en wonen tot op heden nog steeds naast elkaar. De broers en zussen Andries leven ondertussen al zestig jaar op de Mechelbaan die in de volksmond ‘d’Andriezenstraat’ wordt genoemd.
