synopsis

The story of a woman's love for two young men. Antwerp, 1940. Lieve marries Adriaan, a Flemish idealist who is drawn towards Germany by the occupation to the Eastern Front. She shelters the resistant François in 1942 and discovers with him what love is really about. At the liberation, she's reunited with a bruised and sentenced Adriaan. In spite of her passion for François, she cannot bring herself to abandon him in these trying circumstances. But she slowly drifts away from her husband, while she senses that François, who is monopolized by his career, is slowly drifting away from her.
L’histoire de l’amour d’une femme pour deux jeunes hommes. Anvers, 1940. Lieve épouse Adriaan, un idéaliste flamand qui est attiré vers l’Allemagne par l’occupation du Front de l’Est. En 1942, elle abrite François, un résistant, et découvre avec lui en quoi l’amour consiste réellement. A la libération, elle est à nouveau unie à Adriaan, meurtri et condamné. Malgré sa passion pour François, elle ne peut se résoudre à abandonner Adriaan dans de telles circonstances. Mais elle s’éloigne peu à peu de son mari lorsqu’elle sent que François, qui est accaparé par sa carrière, s’éloigne peu à peu d’elle.
